Rishab Shetty, wearing multiple hats as the lead actor, writer, and director, delivers an intense cinematic experience in Kantara Chapter 1. Originally released in Kannada, the film was celebrated for its unique blend of mythology, culture, and the timeless connection between humans, nature, and divinity. The story explores the sacred traditions and heroic deeds of local people, rooted and now reaching Tamil audiences with its dubbed release on October 2, 2025.

The narrative begins in a village under the shadow of the powerful Iswara Garden, a place filled with divine energy. The dynasty, led by a king intent on conquest, threatens the village and its people. As destruction unfolds at the hands of the king’s son, the legendary Panchuruli rises, echoing the philosophy of the Bhagavad Gita, whenever Adharma prevails, the divine manifests to restore Dharma. Panchuruli’s presence and eventual disappearance add layers of mystery and suspense, driving the story forward with intensity and another version of Kantara appears soon on screen in the upcoming years.

Rishab Shetty’s performance as Berme is remarkable, showcasing aggression, energy, and a commanding presence in every sequence. He is perfectly complemented by Rukmini Vasanth, whose portrayal of Kanakavathi exudes grace and poise. Actor Jayaram leaves a strong impression as King, making the cast well-rounded and engaging throughout the film.
