Cristina Kathirvelan Tamil Movie Review:
Kathirvelan, played by Kaushik Ram, is a
young man who falls in love with Cristina (portrayed by Pratibha Pandiaraj)
during a temple festival. To stay close to her, he gives up his dream of going
abroad and joins her college. Cristina does not completely accept his love, but
also does not push him away. Meanwhile, another couple from their college
elopes for an inter-caste marriage, and Kathirvelan and Cristina sign as
witnesses, unknowingly using their Aadhaar and ration cards in a way that would
later change their lives.
As the story unfolds, Cristina’s family
arranges her engagement to a Christian groom. However, a shocking truth comes
to light when a priest discovers a marriage certificate declaring Cristina and
Kathirvelan as husband and wife. It is revealed that corrupt officials have
used the witness documents to register fake marriages. To resolve this,
Cristina secretly visits the registrar’s office several times, causing her
fiancé’s family to doubt her actions. The situation worsens when her family
strongly opposes her involvement with a man from another faith, recalling her
sister’s tragic past.
Director SJN Alex Pandian handles the
sensitive theme of love, faith, and social prejudice with an emotional yet
grounded approach. The writing effectively blends romance and drama, while N.
R. Raghunanthan’s music adds emotional depth to key moments. Kaushik Ram
delivers a sincere performance as the determined lover, and Pratibha Pandiaraj
impresses with her restrained expressions, especially in emotional sequences.
Supporting actors like Singam Puli, Aarul D. Shankar, and Kanja Karupu bring
natural charm and balance to the narrative. Produced by R. Prabhakar Sthapathy,
the film succeeds in portraying how a simple mistake leads to life-changing
consequences, offering a message about trust and the societal barriers of faith
and identity.
