Vimanam Movie Review:
The story revolves around Samudhirakani, a disabled
father, who supports his family by running a pay toilet in the slums of
Chennai. His fourth-grade son, Dhruv, has lost his mother and finds solace in
his love for airplanes. Dhruv spends his days standing in the airport compound,
watching planes fly, without eating or sleeping, dreaming of becoming a pilot.
The narrative explores how far Samudhirakani is willing to go to fulfill his
son's dreams and the sacrifices he makes in the process.
While the film focuses on the tender bond between
father and son, the character of Anusuya adds unnecessary padding to the story.
Her presence and charisma do not contribute significantly to the theme of
father-son affection. On the other hand, the comedic duo of Mottai Rajendran
and Rahul Ramakrishna fails to evoke laughter and instead elicits bitterness
and anger from the audience.
Unfortunately, Charan Arjun's music fails to
captivate and beats boredom. Particularly, the background music
gives viewers the feeling of watching a television serial and becomes
agonizing. Meera Jasmin's appearance in the film is fleeting and serves more as
an honorary role rather than a substantial contribution to the plot.
In summary, the film centers around Samudhirakani's
determination to fulfill his son's dream of flying. However, the unnecessary
addition of certain characters and underwhelming comedy elements detract from the
core theme of father-son affection. The music, both in terms of composition and
background score, fails to engage the audience, leaving them feeling impassive
and disenchanted.
