Priyamudan Priya Movie Review: Love or Lust, what other relationship?
"Priyamudan Priya" is an emotionally intense and
unique film that opens with Radio Jockey Priya (Leesha), whose soothing and
captivating voice connects with listeners. Despite having a beautiful family
and a promising career as a Radio Jockey, Priya decides to get married and
settle down, intending to quit her job. However, her plans take a dark turn
when a strange guy, Markandayan (Ashok Kumar), intrudes into her house,
threatening her sister and nieces. He blackmails Priya into hosting a radio
show according to his wishes.
Markandayan's character is portrayed as an orphan yearning
for affection, and he becomes obsessed with Priya's voice after randomly
stumbling upon her radio program. Instead, he feels an overwhelming feeling of
recognition and warmth, transcending conventional boundaries of love. This
inexplicable connection deeply resonates within his soul.
The plot thickens when Priya's boss, MD Kishore (Thalaivasal
Vijay), initially disagrees with the idea of conducting the show according to a
stranger's wishes. Simultaneously, the cop Suresh investigates Markandayan,
revealing that he is affected by bipolar disorder. Despite Kishore's
reluctance, he eventually agrees to Markandayan's demand, leading to a radio
show that exposes Markandayan’s emotional feelings to the public, creating a
powerful impact.
Director Sujitha takes an audacious approach, exploring the
psychic eccentricity that revolves around the concept of a Radio Jockey. Ashok
Kumar's character portrays a hyper and volatile personality, while Leesha's
performance captures the essence of Priya's character adequately. Srikanth Deva's music makes vibrant to the film.
The story culminates on a bittersweet and poignant note, as
the unconventional bond between Priya and Markandayan. The film challenges human emotions and the power of communication through the medium of radio.
Ultimately, "Priyamudan Priya" offers a thought-provoking and
heartwarming exploration of the human heart and spirit.
