Jigarthanda Doubled Movie Review:

Jigarthanda DoubleX Movie Review:

The film unfolds in the backdrop of 1975, centering around a notorious gangster from Madurai who aspires to become a film superstar after facing ridicule for his dark complexion. Despite abundant resources, he publishes an advertisement seeking a director and story for a film, and Kirubakar, an undercover officer, is assigned to assassinate the gangster. Posing as Satyajit's assistant, Kirubakar enters the gangster's world to make a film, leading to an unexpected journey that steers the narrative toward the jungle and the protection of elephants.

Amidst this, a tribal community in the forest becomes a target of the state government's ruthless agenda to destroy the forest, exterminate elephants, and establish a town. The Chief Minister, in collaboration with the DSP, orchestrates the killing of tribals, unaware that the entire scheme is being recorded by the film cameras. The subsequent film release exposes the corruption, forcing the Chief Minister to relinquish power. The movie raises poignant questions about environmental conservation and the well-being of elephants, intertwining multiple storylines that make the director's intended message challenging to decipher.

While the film succeeds in authentically capturing the 1975 era, meticulous attention is given to costumes and makeup, the overall narrative becomes convoluted with an excess of action sequences. The film's length and the overpowering background music during intense scenes may test the audience's patience. Raghav Lawrence, in the role of gangster Caesar, delivers a performance marked by loud acting, lacking the diversity necessary for the character. SJ Surya's portrayal of Kirubakar stands out with its effective execution, providing a positive aspect to the film. The supporting cast, including Nimisha Sajayan and Naveen Chandra, attempts to do justice to their roles, but the overall impact falls short. Thiru's cinematography, particularly in the forest scenes, is visually captivating, and Santosh Narayan's music contributes adequately to the film's atmosphere. Overall, the film's potential is hindered by its excessive length and lack of clarity in conveying the intended message.
