Moothakudi Movie Review:
Moothakudi Movie Review:
Mookamma, the elder statesman of the town, was visibly shocked by a certain incident. In response, he sternly declared, "No one should drink in the town anymore. If you drink, we will send you away from the town." The townspeople were bound by this decree. Despite the restrictive atmosphere, a bold businessman in Vikhakudi devises a plan to circumvent the prohibition and establish a brewery to make everyone a 'kudi.' Anticipating opposition from Mookamma and the townspeople, he engages in a clever ruse, unraveling a plot filled with intrigue and defiance.
This anti-alcohol film, directed by Ravi Bargavan, cleverly incorporates commercial elements such as romantic conflict and comedic moments. The lead role is portrayed by Tarungopi, who adeptly navigates the complexities of the screenplay that weaves him into the roles of both hero and heroine. Prakash Chandra, in the role of his younger brother, adds depth to the narrative. Anvisha takes on the role of the heroine, injecting laughter into the film with her amusing miscommunications. The closing scene introduces Katthi in another avatar as Ram, showcasing versatility in acting.
KR Vijaya, portraying Mookamma, brings wealth and influence to the character, demanding obedience from the townspeople. Raj Kapoor, as the appropriate villain, incites chaos in the town, manipulating circumstances to challenge the alcohol restriction. R. Sundarrajan's song, involving a loan of 5000 rupees to Singam Puli, adds a unique element to the storyline. The supporting cast, including 'Yar' Kannan, delivers flawless performances, contributing to the film's overall impact.
M. Charakutty, credited with writing the story and dialogues, assumes a prominent role in shaping the narrative. The film, taking a stand against 'Tanni' (alcohol), spares no expense on lavish costumes, with all actors appearing in bright new clothes throughout the scenes. While the story mandarins shine in their attire, the cinematography could have enhanced the visual appeal by capturing the radiance of the costumes.
