Hit List Movie Review:
The film, produced by KS
Ravikumar, centers around Vijay Kanishka, a computer engineer who adheres to
the non-violent principles of Vallalar. Vallalar's philosophy, which emphasizes
not harming even the smallest life, deeply influences Vijay's way of living. He
is known for his unwavering moral integrity and has earned a good reputation
among his peers. Vijay's family consists of his mother, Sithara, and his
younger sister, with whom he shares a peaceful and quiet life.
The tranquillity of
Vijay's life is shattered when a masked man kidnaps his mother and sister. This
antagonist, despite sharing Vallalar's principle of not killing, forces Vijay
into a harrowing situation. He demands that Vijay commit two murders, putting
Vijay in a profound moral dilemma. The conflict between his principles and the
need to save his family becomes the central tension of the film.
Vijay's struggle to meet
the masked man's demands while trying to rescue his family forms the crux of
the narrative. He is caught in a web of moral and physical challenges,
navigating through a perilous situation. His portrayal as an innocent and timid
individual who is thrust into this dire predicament is both poignant and
compelling.
The film introduces
police officer Sarathkumar, who plays a crucial role in assisting Vijay. While
Sarathkumar does not have action scenes in the first half, his presence becomes
more prominent in the second half, where he engages in significant fight scenes.
His involvement adds a layer of action and intensity to the storyline, aiding
Vijay in his mission.
A major highlight of the
film is the character Kali, played by Garuda Ram, who serves as a significant
villain. The fight scene between Kali and Nayak, a major rowdy, before the
film's break, is a standout moment. This scene adds to the film’s dramatic tension
and showcases the physical stakes involved in Vijay's quest.
Adding to the intrigue, a
renowned director makes a surprise cameo in the second half. Despite limited
screen time, this director delivers a complete performance, playing an
important role that impacts the storyline significantly. His presence is a
treat for the fans and adds depth to the narrative.
The climax of the film
revolves around the revelation of the masked man's identity and his motives.
This mystery is a central element of the plot, with the masked man's
explanation bringing a sense of realism to the unfolding events. The resolution
of this mystery ties all the narrative threads together, providing a satisfying
conclusion to the film.
Finally, Samuthirakani
appears in a smaller yet impactful role. His character aligns with the social
themes often present in his films, adding another layer of depth to the story.
Despite his brief appearance, Samuthirakani’s performance leaves a lasting
impression and reinforces the film's underlying messages.
