Mazhai Pidikatha Manithan Movie Review: 

 

The film "Raththam," directed by Vijay Milton and starring Vijay Antony, tells the story of Salim, who becomes entangled in a dangerous conflict after killing the son of a corrupt minister involved in drug trafficking. The minister, seeking revenge, orchestrates an attack that results in the tragic death of Salim's wife, leaving him devastated and filled with a deep hatred for the rain, which symbolizes his grief. To protect him from further harm, Salim's friend Chief, played by Sarathkumar, hides him in an island town in the Andamans, where Salim tries to live a quiet, anonymous life.

 

In this new setting, Salim befriends Parma and Soumya, but soon finds himself drawn into their troubles, which involve a local thug, Dali, and a corrupt police officer, Surla. As Salim navigates these challenges, the film blends action, drama, and suspense, focusing on his struggle to escape his past while confronting new adversities. The Andaman Islands' unique backdrop adds a fresh visual element to the story, but the film's pacing and character development sometimes fall short, leading to a mixed reception.

 

Critics have noted that while the action sequences and cinematography bring some excitement, the film suffers from predictable twists and underdeveloped characters. Vijay Antony's performance, though intense at times, lacks the emotional depth needed to fully engage the audience. The supporting cast and music also received lukewarm responses, with the overall narrative failing to maintain its initial momentum. Despite these shortcomings, the film offers a few moments of intrigue, particularly in its depiction of the Andaman setting and its innovative approach to certain action scenes.
