Gangers Movie Review:

Directed by Sundar C and released on April 24, 2025, Gangers is a gripping entertainer that blends comedy and action. The film opens with a familiar trope in Sundar C's style, local politicians playing shady roles, but quickly draws viewers in with a suspenseful twist. When a student from a government school, Ramya, suddenly goes missing, it sets off a chain of events that unfolds into an emotionally engaging narrative.

Catherine Tresa plays Sujitha, a dedicated teacher who becomes the glamour compass of the story and writes a petition to the commissioner regarding the missing student forms. Vadivelu shines as Singaram, the Physical Education teacher who adds a former comic while also playing a vital role in the story’s progression. The arrival of Saravanan (played by Sundar C) as a newly appointed staff member brings tension and resolve, as he stands up against corruption and fights local thugs, portrayed convincingly by Mime Gopi and Aruldas.

The second half of Gangers takes an unexpected turn, shifting from a school-based mystery to a high-stakes heist involving a missing ₹100 crore. The story introduces Harish Peradi as a powerful king-like figure, further elevating the plot with drama and intrigue. The screenplay by Venkat Raghavan keeps the pacing sharp, and the dialogues by Badri and Venkat Raghavan deliver humor and impact in equal measure.

The performances across the board are noteworthy. Sundar C delivers a measured and commanding performance, while Vadivelu reclaims his comic timing with a role that never feels out of place. Catherine Tresa brings grace and intensity to her role, while Vani Bhojan adds charm in a supporting part. Bagavathi Perumal, Munishkanth, Mime Gopi, Aruldas, and Santhana Bharathi round out the cast with solid performances that elevate the narrative.

Technically, the film scores well. C. Sathya’s music complements the tone, blending dramatic tension with lighter moments. E. Krishnasamy's cinematography captures the mood and grit of each scene effectively, while Praveen Antony’s crisp editing ensures the film’s 158-minute runtime feels engaging. Produced by Khushbu Sundar, A.C. Shanmugam, and A.C.S. Arun Kumar under Avni Cinemax and Benzz Media Pvt. Ltd., Gangers is distributed by Dream Big Films and lives up to its name with a powerful mix of drama, comedy, and action.
