Bun Butter Jam is a light-hearted romantic comedy that explores the evolving dynamics of modern relationships through the lens of two well-meaning mothers. Lalitha and Uma, both disillusioned by their own experiences with marriage, cross paths at a wedding and instantly bond over their shared concerns. As their conversation unfolds, they express a deep worry about the future of their children, who seem to neither believe in love nor in the institution of arranged marriage.

Their children, Chandru and Madhu, are polar opposites in personality and outlook. Chandru is a quiet, reserved young man, while Madhu is strong-willed and independent. Despite their differences, the mothers hatch a plan to bring them together, not through a typical arranged setup, but by creating a situation where love naturally blossoms. Their goal is to orchestrate a "love-cum-arranged" marriage, one that allows the couple to truly understand and accept each other before making a lifelong commitment.

The story captures the generational contrast between traditional family values and contemporary beliefs. Lalitha and Uma represent the older generation’s desire for stability and companionship, while their children reflect the ideals and challenges of Gen Z. The plot humorously navigates these contrasts, offering both emotional depth and laugh-out-loud moments as the characters fumble, grow, and discover the meaning of love on their own terms.

The film features Raju Jeyamohan as Chandru and Aadhiya Prasad as Madhu in the lead roles, supported by Bhavya Trikha as Nandhini. The supporting cast includes seasoned actors such as Saranya Ponvannan, Devadarshini, Charlie, Michael Thangadurai, and VJ Pappu, who all contribute significantly to the film’s lively and engaging tone. The music, composed by Nivas K. Prasanna, adds warmth and emotion, while Babu Kumar IE’s cinematography and John Abraham’s crisp editing ensure a visually appealing and well-paced narrative.
