Rating: 3.75/5
Sattamum Needhiyum is a gripping courtroom
drama that revolves around Sundaramoorthy (Saravanan), a seasoned notary public
known for his deep knowledge of legal intricacies. Though he works on drafting
legal documents, Sundaramoorthy is well-versed in every loophole and corner of
the law. Despite his expertise, he is initially dismissed by practicing
advocates who fail to recognize his intellect. Aruna (Namritha), a young law
graduate seeking a chance to practice under a senior, faces similar neglect
from the legal fraternity.
The story takes a dramatic turn when a
desperate and innocent man, Kuppusamy (Shanmugham), douses himself in kerosene
and sets himself ablaze in front of the court. His final cry for help reveals
that his daughter, Venilla, has been kidnapped, and he has been denied justice.
This emotional incident shakes Sundaramoorthy and Aruna, prompting them to come
together to take up his case. Determined to find the truth and rescue the girl,
they begin an intense legal battle against a system influenced by power and
privilege.
As the narrative unfolds, Sattamum
Needhiyum delivers a series of gripping twists and turns that keep viewers on
the edge of their seats. The film is packed with well-executed courtroom scenes
that not only explore legal technicalities but also delve into the emotional
stakes of those seeking justice. The investigation sequences are layered with
suspense, as the protagonists uncover hidden truths behind the case. The
courtroom becomes a battlefield where logic, emotion, and ethics collide.
Saravanan delivers a matured and
convincing performance as Sundaramoorthy, portraying the transition from a
sidelined notary to a determined legal crusader with dignity and gravitas.
Namritha shines as Aruna, balancing vulnerability and resolve as a newcomer in
the legal world. Shanmugham’s portrayal of Kuppusamy is emotionally stirring
and forms the emotional backbone of the story. Supporting actors like Aroul D
Shankar, Thiruselvam, Vijayashree, and Iniya Ram contribute effectively to the
intense narrative, adding realism to the ensemble.
On the technical front, director Balaji
Selvaraj keeps the pace tight and the emotional tone grounded. Writer and
showrunner Sooriyaprathap S crafts a compelling narrative that highlights
societal flaws in the justice system. S. Gokulakrishnan’s cinematography
effectively captures the mood of courtroom tension, while Raavanan’s editing
ensures a smooth yet impactful flow. Vibin Baskar’s background score elevates
the drama, and Bhavna Govardan’s art direction grounds the story in an
authentic setting. Overall, Sattamum Needhiyum is a powerful Web series, ZEE5
Original that delivers both a message and a memorable viewing experience.
