Ram Abdullah Antony Tamil Movie Review: An Emotional Journey of Three Friends
Ram Abdullah Antony Tamil Movie Review: An
Emotional Journey of Three Friends
Directed by Jayavel T and produced by T.S.
Clement Suresh under Annai Vailankanni Studios, “Ram Abdullah Antony” is a
drama that explores friendship, class difference, and the consequences of harsh
realities. The film’s cinematography is handled by L.K. Vijay, while T.R.
Krishna Chetan scores the music. The story follows three close friends, Ram
(Ajay Arnold), Abdullah (Arjun), and Antony (Poovaiyar Kappis), whose strong
bond is tested by circumstances beyond their control.
The movie begins with the lives of three
boys who study together in a government school. Their friendship is the soul of
the story, innocent yet deeply emotional. On the other hand, Guru Moorthy (Vela
Ramamoorthy), a powerful businessman who runs a hand-rolled cigarette company,
represents wealth and social dominance. His grandson, a student from a private
school, becomes the victim of a shocking kidnap incident carried out by the
three boys. This forms the central conflict of the film.
As the investigation unfolds, cop Robert
(Sai Dheena) takes charge, assisted by Garudan (Soundararaja), another officer
who adds intensity to the narrative. The brutal murder of Guru Moorthy’s
grandson shakes the community and exposes the wide gap between the rich and the
poor. The director presents this as more than just a crime story, it becomes a
reflection on social inequality and the system that shapes the lives of youth
from different backgrounds.
Performance-wise, Poovaiyar Kappis
delivers an emotional and grounded performance as Antony, while Ajay Arnold as
Ram and Arjun as Abdullah portray friendship and helplessness with natural
ease. Soundararaja stands out with his subtle yet strong portrayal of Garudan,
and Sai Dheena adds grit as the determined cop. Vela Ramamoorthy, as always,
brings authority and power to his role. Supporting actors including Thalaivasal
Vijay, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, and others, contribute effectively to the film’s
emotional depth.
Technically, L.K. Vijay’s cinematography
captures the rural backdrop and the intense mood of the film beautifully. The
music by T.R. Krishna Chetan supports the story with fitting emotional tones.
Director Jayavel T deserves appreciation for attempting a meaningful story that
highlights class divide and the strength of friendship under pressure. Although
the pacing could have been tighter in parts, “Ram Abdullah Antony” succeeds in
delivering a heartfelt message, about how life’s circumstances can turn
innocent boys into victims of society’s cruelty.
Verdict: A sincere attempt with strong
performances and a touching message about friendship and social difference.
