Retta Thala is a Tamil film written and directed by Krish Thirukumaran and produced by Bobby Balachandran under the banner BTG Universal. The film has a runtime of 113 minutes and was released on 25 December 2025. With music composed by Sam C.S, the film attempts to blend romance, crime, and suspense into a compact narrative.

The story revolves around Kali, played by Arun Vijay, who grows up without parental love along with his girlfriend Anthre, portrayed by Siddhi Idnani. Their childhood hardship shapes their mindset, especially Anthre’s strong desire for money. Kali leaves his hometown Pondicherry for work and returns after five years, hoping to reunite with his love and continue their relationship.

However, Anthre’s character takes a sharp turn when she places a condition on their love, clearly stating that money is more important than emotions. Siddhi Idnani effectively portrays a greedy and money-minded woman, and her performance adds tension to the relationship. The emotional conflict between love and money becomes a key driving force in the story.

The plot thickens when Kali meets Upendra, a man who looks exactly like him. Arun Vijay plays a dual role as Kali and Malpe Upendra, delivering a convincing performance with noticeable differences in body language and attitude. Kali and Anthre plan to kill Upendra and take over his wealth by assuming his identity, which leads the film into a darker and more intense zone.

As the story progresses, Kali begins to face unexpected problems after killing Upendra. The film slowly reveals that Upendra is not as simple as he appears, and his true nature forms the core suspense of the film. Director Krish Thirukumaran handles this twist carefully, maintaining interest and tension without unnecessary distractions.

Technically, Sam C.S’s music supports the film well, especially in emotional and suspenseful moments. The supporting cast, including Tanya Ravichandran, Yogi Samy, P. Sai Kumar, John Vijay, Hareesh Peradi, Ramachandran Durairaj, Balaji Murugadoss, and Sai Dheena, contribute effectively in their respective roles. Overall, Retta Thala is a focused thriller that relies on performance and plot rather than excess elements, making it a decent watch for audiences who enjoy suspense-driven dramas.
