Vangala Viriguda is a film written, directed, produced, and musically composed by Guhan Chakkaravarthiyar, who also plays the lead role. The film stands out for its strong personal involvement, as Guhan has handled an impressive 21 technical and creative departments on his own, including story, screenplay, music, cinematography, art direction, costumes, action training, production design, and direction. This makes the film a true one-man creative effort.

The story revolves around Gugan Chakravarthy, a powerful businessman from the Thoothukudi district, who is emotionally broken due to an unhappy married life. One night, while sitting alone on a beach, he witnesses his former girlfriend attempting suicide and saves her. As the story unfolds, he realizes that her married life is also filled with pain and suffering, similar to his own. In an extreme act driven by emotion and desperation, Gugan commits a murder to help her escape her troubled life and starts living with her.

The narrative takes an unexpected turn when the person believed to be murdered begins calling and threatening Gugan’s girlfriend over the phone. This creates confusion and fear, as they struggle to understand how a dead man could communicate with them. A series of frightening incidents follows, especially when the girlfriend is left alone, deepening the suspense. Determined to uncover the truth, Gugan sets out to identify who is behind these threats, and the rest of the film focuses on this mystery.

Guhan Chakkaravarthiyar’s performance as the troubled protagonist is sincere and intense. He convincingly portrays emotional pain, inner conflict, and determination. Ponnambalam delivers a strong supporting performance, adding weight and seriousness to the narrative. Alina Sheikh performs her role with emotional depth, especially in scenes of fear and vulnerability, while Vaiyapuri provides balance to the film with his experience and screen presence.

On the technical side, the film reflects Guhan’s dedication and multitasking skills. The music and background score support the emotional and suspenseful moments effectively. Cinematography captures the mood of loneliness and tension well, particularly in beach and night scenes. While handling so many departments is challenging, the effort and passion behind the film are clearly visible, making Vangala Viriguda a sincere attempt with an emotionally driven story and a suspense-filled narrative.
