Happy Raj follows the story of Anand Raj, also known as Happy Raj, played by G. V. Prakash Kumar. He is an educated rural youngster who falls in love with Thenmozhi (Prathana Nathan) and proposes to her. However, she rejects him, not because of his character, but due to the appearance of his father.

In their village, Happy Raj’s father, played by George Maryan, is mockingly called “Kutirai Mutta” by the locals, referring to his looks. Thenmozhi fears that after marriage, she would also be teased as “Kutirai Mutta’s daughter-in-law,” which leads her to refuse the proposal.

This rejection deeply affects Happy Raj, leaving him hurt and frustrated. He realizes that in his village, many girls reject him for the same reason, his father’s appearance. With advice from his friend, played by Adhirchi Arun, he decides to move away and try his luck elsewhere.

Happy Raj moves to Bangalore in search of a job and a fresh start. He successfully lands a position in an IT company, where he meets Kaavya, played by Sri Gouri Priya Reddy. Their friendship gradually turns into love, bringing a new phase into his life.

Kaavya comes from a wealthy and respectable family. Her father, portrayed by Abbas, is a dignified and strong personality. This creates a new fear for Happy Raj, whether Kaavya and her family will accept his background and his father.

The film mainly revolves around this emotional conflict. It presents a mix of fun, romance, and sentiment, while also delivering a meaningful message towards the end. The narrative keeps the audience engaged with light-hearted moments and relatable situations.

In the final 20 minutes, the film shifts into a more serious tone. It highlights an important message: for every child, their father is a hero and role model, regardless of looks, behavior, or financial status. This emotional core stands out as the strength of the film.

The performances add value to the story. G. V. Prakash Kumar delivers an energetic and lively performance as a rural youngster. Sri Gouri Priya looks charming and fits her role well. George Maryan gives a sincere performance that supports the film’s message effectively.

Geetha Kailasam, who plays Happy Raj’s mother, brings humor to the film, especially in the Bangalore portions. However, some scenes, like her casual attitude towards drinking with her future daughter-in-law, feel slightly unrealistic in a traditional context. Abbas’s comeback is notable, and his role leaves a positive impression.

Directed and written by Maria Raja Elanchezian, the film has a clear message despite a few flaws. The music by Justin Prabhakaran complements the narrative. Overall, Happy Raj is a simple, entertaining film with a meaningful message, overlook the flaws, enjoy the fun, and take home the emotional value it offers.
