Kenatha Kanom Tamil Movie Review: A Rural Comedy with a Mysterious Dinosaur Twist

Kenatha Kanom is a rural-based Tamil film directed by Suresh Sangaiah. The story revolves around Manivasagam, played by Yogi Babu, who plays a powerful priest living in a water-scarce village. The film combines elements of village life, social issues, and light-hearted entertainment. The narrative highlights the struggles of people living in areas facing severe water scarcity while also presenting a humorous and engaging storyline.

Manivasagam is in love with Yazhini, played by Lovelyn Chandrasekhar. However, Yazhini’s father refuses to approve their marriage because Manivasagam’s village suffers from a serious water shortage. Yazhini’s father wishes for his daughter to live a comfortable life without facing hardship, and he believes that marrying into a village without proper water resources would make her life difficult.

Determined to solve the problem and prove himself, Manivasagam decides to dig a well in front of his house so that the village can have a reliable source of water. The villagers come together and support him in this effort. During the digging process, they unexpectedly discover the fossil of a dinosaur, which brings sudden attention to the village and turns the situation into a surprising and unusual event.

Soon, the archaeological department arrives to study the fossil under the supervision of Sundaravalli, played by Raichal Rabecca. The research team begins examining the fossil and tries to understand its history. However, the villagers face several challenges during the research process, as the investigation brings many complications and disturbances to their daily lives.

One night, heavy rainfall occurs in the village. The next morning, Sundaravalli and her team discover that the fossilized dinosaur has mysteriously disappeared. The sudden disappearance of such a huge fossil raises serious questions. The incident becomes a major concern for the authorities, and the government is forced to look into the matter. At this stage, Manivasagam places certain demands before the government regarding the needs of his village.

Performance-wise, Yogi Babu delivers a strong and convincing performance as Manivasagam, balancing both emotion and comedy effectively. Lovelyn Chandrasekhar performs her role naturally, while Raichal Rabecca adds depth to the story with her character as an archaeologist. The film’s music by Nivas K Prasanna supports the mood of the story, and the cinematography by Thiyagarajan captures the rural setting effectively. Overall, Kenatha Kanom presents a mix of comedy, mystery, and social themes, making it an entertaining film that keeps the audience curious about what really happened to the missing dinosaur fossil.
