Made in Korea, written and directed by Ra. Karthik is a simple emotional drama that explores dreams, cultural influence, and human relationships. The film mainly revolves around Shenba, played by Priyanka Mohan, who carries the entire story with a natural and sincere performance. The story begins in the small village of Kolappur near Ooty, where a young schoolgirl named Shenba performs in a school drama about Sembavalam, an Indian woman who once travelled to Korea. That performance deeply inspires the young girl, and from that moment, she develops a strong dream of visiting Korea one day. As she grows up, Shenba continues to follow Korean culture, lifestyle, and food with great interest. However, her life takes a painful turn when her lover cheats her and takes away a large amount of money that her father had saved for her future.

Despite this heartbreaking situation, Shenba decides to continue her journey alone and travels to Korea. What was supposed to be a happy trip becomes an emotional and lonely experience. In a foreign country, she struggles to find a job and adjust to the unfamiliar environment. During this difficult phase, a kind Korean man guides and helps her understand the place and its people, showing that kindness and support for loved ones can be found everywhere in the world.

Shenba later finds work as a caretaker for an elderly woman, played by Park Hye-jin. Initially, the old woman pretends to be bedridden, but Shenba soon discovers that she is not actually sick. The elderly woman secretly dreams of living an independent life. With Shenba’s encouragement and support, she finally gathers the courage to follow her dream and open a restaurant. Through this journey, Shenba also shows her generous nature by helping her friends financially with the money she had carefully saved to return to her father.

Just when Shenba begins to feel that her dreams are slowly coming true, a major disaster occurs in her hometown. This unexpected event forces her to question her future and the life she has built in Korea. Whether Shenba returns to Korea, achieves her dreams, and finds true happiness forms the emotional conclusion of Made in Korea. The film succeeds mainly because of Priyanka Mohan’s heartfelt performance, while the supporting cast, including Si-hun Baek, provide good support. Director Ra. Karthik presents the story in a simple and relatable manner, focusing on emotions, dreams, and the universal kindness that connects people across cultures.
