Movie Review: A School Boy’s Bold Entry into Mystery & Thriller
Room Boy
is a Tamil film released on April 17, featuring C. Nikhil, a real-life school
student, in the lead role. It is noteworthy that Nikhil acted as a hero while
studying in the 12th standard and even attended the film’s press meet during
his exam time. This gives the film a fresh identity, as a young student steps
into a full-length lead role. The story is set in a hill station in Tamil Nadu
and begins with curiosity about his character.
Nikhil
plays the role of Sanjay, who joins as a room boy in the Queen Mark Hotel. The
reason behind his decision to work in such a place, despite difficult
conditions, becomes an important question in the story. The hotel environment
is not friendly, and Sanjay, along with his friend, continues to work under
pressure. This builds the base for the mystery and keeps the audience thinking
about his real intention.
On the
other side, Imman Annachi appears as the manager of the Sunny Funny Hotel,
bringing a mix of humor and seriousness to his character. His role adds a
different flavor to the film, especially with his attitude and screen presence.
Meanwhile, Nisha (Harsha) visits the Queen Mark Hotel with her family as a
tourist, which introduces the romantic angle into the story.
As the
film progresses, Sanjay and Nisha develop a simple love story, which feels
natural. After her trip, both realize their love for each other. However,
problems arise when it is discovered that Sanjay has been secretly spending
time with Nisha’s family as a tourist guide. This leads to tension and
conflict, adding emotional weight to the narrative.
The film
later shifts into a suspense thriller when a shocking issue is revealed inside
the hotel. A family suspects hidden cameras in the rooms, and although the
truth is initially denied, a masked man uncovers that illegal recordings are
happening. This twist connects with a deeper mystery and raises questions about
the masked man’s identity and Sanjay’s true reason for joining the hotel.
Directed by Jagan Rayan, with music by Velan Sagadevan, and produced by ACM
Cinemas, the film combines drama, romance, and suspense. C. Nikhil delivers a
sincere performance for his age, and the film presents an interesting concept
in a simple and understandable manner.
