Dark Giant Tamil Movie Review: A Rural Horror Thriller Driven by Greed and Supernatural Secrets

Dark Giant, written and directed by KS Kishaan, is a rural horror-thriller that revolves around greed, supernatural powers, and dark secrets. The film begins with an interesting and mysterious opening that immediately creates curiosity among the audience. Actor-director K. Bhagyaraj appears in a devotional guidance role, while the story explores the consequences of human desires and the dangers of dealing with unknown forces.

The plot follows Madhankumar Dhakshinamoorthy, a poor villager struggling with financial difficulties. One day, while walking through a paddy field, he discovers a strange idol and shares his problems with it. To his surprise, the idol grants him paddy and later even a gold coin. Encouraged by this miracle, he becomes greedy and starts asking for more wealth. However, the idol soon reveals its dark nature and demands a human sacrifice in return for greater riches, setting the stage for the film’s supernatural conflict.

Parallel to this story, a young couple, played by Aadharsh Madhikaandham and Jovita Livingston (Keerthana), travel from the city to their ancestral village hoping to sell family property and overcome their financial struggles. Along with Aadharsh’s younger sister Deepthi, they arrive at an old ancestral house that creates an eerie and frightening atmosphere. As they begin uncovering the truth about their family history, they learn shocking secrets connected to their grandfather and relatives, leading them deeper into the mystery surrounding the village.

The second half gains momentum with the arrival of Sonia Agarwal, whose character plays an important role in moving the story forward. She delivers a sincere performance and adds emotional depth to the narrative. The supporting cast, including Livingston, Amudhavanan, Rafiq Batcha, and other newcomers, contributes effectively to the film. The actors fit naturally into the rural setting and help maintain the suspense throughout the story.

Technically, the film benefits from Vignesh R’s background score, which supports the horror elements and enhances the tension in key scenes. KS Kishaan succeeds in creating a dark and mysterious atmosphere, especially during the supernatural sequences. While the story follows a familiar satanic-horror theme often seen in Tamil cinema, the rural backdrop and mystery elements keep it engaging. Overall, Dark Giant is a horror-thriller that explores how greed can lead people toward dangerous and terrifying consequences, delivering a suspenseful experience for fans of supernatural cinema.
