Parimala and Co Tamil Movie Review: Murder, Misunderstandings, and Endless Family Drama

Parimala and Co, written and directed by Pandiraaj, takes a different route from his recent family-oriented storytelling style. While his previous films focused on family emotions and relationships, this film blends dark comedy with the struggles and confusion of a small middle-class family. Backed by Lyca Productions, Tamilkumaran Productions Pvt Ltd, and Pasanga Productions, the movie attempts to entertain audiences through humour, family conflicts, and a murder mystery.

The story revolves around Parimala, played by Jayaram, a strict and stingy father who saves every penny for the welfare of his family and children. Jayaram delivers an entertaining performance, using his expressions, body language, and dialogue delivery effectively to generate laughter. His interactions with the family members create several enjoyable moments throughout the film. Alongside him, Urvashi plays Sudhandhiram and once again proves why she is one of the finest performers in comedy. Her natural humour and effortless screen presence add great energy to the narration.

The film introduces a lively household where the two sisters, played by Sanjana Krishnamoorthy and Ananthika Sanilkumar as Madhu, are constantly arguing and creating funny situations. Their sibling rivalry becomes one of the major sources of entertainment in the opening portions. Meanwhile, Varghese, a local rowdy played by Sany Master, is deeply in love with Madhu. However, Madhu repeatedly rejects his love, and Varghese's troublesome behaviour creates tension for the entire family.

As the story progresses, the frustrated family members openly express their anger towards Varghese and even say that his death would be at their hands. Unexpectedly, Varghese is later found murdered. This shocking incident throws the family into complete panic. Fearing that the police will arrest them, they begin behaving nervously, leading to several humorous situations. The dark comedy works well during these sequences, as the family struggles to hide its fear while dealing with the murder investigation.

The investigation is led by Mysskin, who plays a police officer in his own unique style. His performance adds another layer of comedy to the film while also maintaining the mystery angle. Yogi Babu appears as the house owner of Jayaram's family and contributes a few enjoyable moments. The screenplay gradually unfolds the mystery surrounding Varghese's death and explores how the police officer connects the clues. The film also reveals a tragic aspect of the officer's life, which becomes an important link to the overall story.

Technically, Pandiraaj handles the screenplay simply and engagingly, balancing family humour with suspense elements. The performances of Jayaram, Urvashi, Mysskin, and the supporting cast keep the film entertaining. The comedy generated through panic, misunderstandings, and family interactions works better than the thriller portions. Overall, “Parimala and Co” is a light-hearted dark comedy that combines family drama, mystery, and humour. In fact, considering the way the story focuses on the entire household, the title "Parimala and Family" might have suited the film even better than Parimala and Co.
