Sigma Tamil Movie Review: A Young Director's Take on Money, Family and Emotion

Sigma, directed by Jason Sanjay, marks his entry as a director. Produced by A. Subaskaran under the banner of Lyca Productions, the film stars Sundeep Kishan as Guru, with Faria Abdullah, Raju Sundaram, Sampath Raj, Shiv Panditt and Anbu Thasan in important roles. The film was released on 2 October 2026.

The story revolves around Guru, who runs a library that has a strong emotional connection to his late mother, Sheela. Guru believes that his mother's soul continues to remain in the library. This belief becomes an important part of his character and gives the film an emotional side beyond its money-related storyline.

Guru's life becomes difficult because of a large debt left by his father. With a huge financial problem in front of him, Guru needs to find a way to arrange money. This situation pushes him onto a completely different path and becomes the main reason for the events that follow.

The film then brings in a hidden amount of money connected to a gambling gang. Guru finds himself thinking about how he can get hold of this money and use it to solve his financial problems. The way he approaches this difficult situation forms the main part of the film's narration.

Sundeep Kishan plays Guru and carries the central character throughout the story. His role has both the financial struggle and the emotional connection with his mother, giving him different shades to work with. Faria Abdullah as Sam adds another important character to the proceedings, while Raju Sundaram as Neil brings his experience to the cast.

Sampath Raj as Veerayya Reddy and Shiv Panditt as Vincent add strength to the supporting characters. Anbu Thasan, as Kavithai Ganesh, is also part of the film's character setup. The supporting cast helps create the different situations surrounding Guru and his money problem.

For Jason Sanjay, Sigma is an important beginning as a director. Taking responsibility for a feature film at a young age is itself a new phase in his career. The film brings together money, family emotions and a problem-driven storyline, giving the debut director an opportunity to establish his own approach to filmmaking.

Thaman S's music supports the film's emotional and dramatic moments. The production is handled by A. Subaskaran under Lyca Productions, while Mythri Movie Makers and NVR Cinema are involved in the distribution. Overall, Sigma combines a money-driven situation with family emotion and gives Jason Sanjay a platform to introduce himself as a young director.

Verdict: A money-driven story with an emotional family connection, marking Jason Sanjay's beginning as a feature-film director.
